Join your hosts Conor Perkins and Caroline Aimetti as they cycle through four unique formats with every episode: the rant/rave, the showdown, tips and tricks, and their infamous wild card episodes. The Creators
Poor Unfortunate Podcast is the brainchild of best friends, roommates, and lovers of all things Disney — Caroline Aimetti and Conor Perkins. While studying acting at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, the two bonded over their shared passions for theatre and deep love for Disney. In the summer of 2016, Conor and Caroline began rooming together in a small apartment in New York City. Shortly thereafter, amid the frustrating hurdles of professional careers as actors and the day-to-day slug of their money jobs, they decided to make something for themselves — something that would bring them joy and keep them artistically fulfilled.
Enter Poor Unfortunate Podcast.
After years of developing the idea, workshopping countless names, and recording the first four episodes, the two were almost ready to launch for a 2020 release when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Determined to find that little bit of an escape and spread some magic to the world, Poor Unfortunate Podcast officially launched in March of 2020 with their first four episodes, previously recorded in 2019 (excuse the audio but it’s important to see how far we’ve come). Since then, Poor Unfortunate Podcast has been downloaded over 35,000 times, reaching audiences across the world.
Episode Formats
Poor Unfortunate Podcast is truly a Disney podcast unlike the rest. Rotating through four unique formats and covering every possible topic in the greater Disney universe, every episode feels like something new.
RANT & RAVE — The Rant & Rave is the fiery first episode in the cycle in which Conor and Caroline alternate sharing their hottest Disney opinions (either good or bad), centered around a specific theme.
SHOWDOWN — The Showdown takes two similar Disney properties and pits them against each other to see which one comes out on top. This deep dive into Disney movies, music, theater, and more takes a research-driven approach to look at who did it best and why.
TIPS & TRICKS — The Tips & Tricks episode is the format where creativity flourishes! From Disney Parks do’s and don’ts to small shop recommendations; playlists and movie marathons to Disney-themed days, this episode is all about sharing ways to bring the magic of Disney to you.
WILD CARD — The Wild Card is the last episode in the cycle where ANYTHING can happen! While typically a game of some sort, this episode is free to change from one to the next but you can always count on a good laugh and fun surprises!
